UC Davis Health provides two opportunities for ongoing support for aphasia and communication that are open to the public. Both groups serve to meet to practice communication skills in a supportive environment.
Please read the descriptions of the following groups and see which group may suit you or your loved ones needs.

Aphasia Communication Group

The Aphasia communication group is a therapeutic group that meets to practice communication skills in a supportive environment. This group meets every Friday (holidays excluded) at the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, 4860 Y Street, Sacramento. The group meets from 12:30-2:00 p.m. For more information on these communication groups, and to confirm the location of meetings, please contact Dana Farias at drfarias@ucdavis.edu or call 916-734-3140.

Sentence Structure Group

The Aphasia Group, otherwise known as “Sentence Structure Group,” meets on Wednesdays in the Ambulatory Care Center from 12:45 until 2:15 p.m. The purpose of the group is to provide an opportunity for individuals with aphasia to practice communication in a supportive environment.  This group is open to anyone who has aphasia or language difficulties due to stroke, tumor or traumatic brain injury.   It is facilitated by Christine H. Davis PhD.  Participants need to be screened by Dr. Davis to ensure that they will benefit from participating in the group.

The cost of the group is $10.00 per session or eight sessions for $70.00 and is self-pay.

If you have any questions about the group or want to join please contact Christine Davis at 916-508-5400.
